Five Uruguay players suspended after Copa America brawl; Nunez banned for five games, Bentancur four

After Uruguay’s team fell 1-0 to Colombia, players got into an altercation with fans at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. Five Uruguay players were suspended following the Copa America brawl; Nunez was banned for five games and Bentancur for four.

Uruguay’s next World Cup qualifying matches are scheduled for September 6 at home against Paraguay and September 7 against Venezuela. Additionally, Núñez will be absent from the games in October against Ecuador and Peru as well as the home game against Colombia in November.

The incident took place at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, with Uruguay players involved in a brawl with fans after their team lost 1-0 to Colombia. Núñez will also pay a fine of $20,000, Bentancur $16,000 and Olivera, Araujo and Giménez $12,000 each at Five Uruguay players suspended after Copa America brawl; Nunez banned for five games, Bentancur four.
